• Make sure computer is plugged in and/or laptop battery is charged
• Make sure laptop battery is charged
• Keep laptop in a padded bag to prevent damage
• Keep computer and accessories clean and dust free
• Make sure anti-virus, anti-popup, and anti-spam software is current
• Make sure viruses are deleted as soon as computer detects them
• Keep name and phone number on the bottom of computer in case of loss
• Use complex passwords
• Scan hard drive regularly
• De-fragment hard drive regularly
• Delete cookies regularly
• Make sure you have the proper amount of firewalls
• Make security options on your internet browser adequate
• Keep computer in a temperature appropriate environment
• Keep all liquids and anything that may spill away from computer and keyboard
• Keep extra connections in case of emergency
• Do not put magnetic materials on or near computer
• Make sure to turn off/unplug computer during an electrical storm
• Make sure to shut down computer properly
